Live Audio for Conferences and Panel Discussions

OpenedMic gives conference and event organizers a browser-based way to deliver live panel audio to audience members' devices. The stream can supplement a room system or serve overflow spaces. The moderator or AV technician opens a room, and the audience joins by QR code or link.

Who It Is For

OpenedMic can support conferences, community talks, moderated panels, professional meetups, and side rooms where organizers want an additional browser-based listening path.

It works particularly well in:

Why Browser-Based Matters Here

Conference audiences are not always willing or able to install an unfamiliar app before a session begins. Corporate device policies often block installation. App store geography can be an obstacle. And asking 80 people to install something at the door adds minutes of friction before the session even starts.

With OpenedMic, the organizer sends a link or displays a QR code in the room. The audience opens the room in a supported browser. There is no native app installation or account-creation step. Actual entry time and playback depend on the device, browser, and network.

How the Audience Joins

  1. The organizer or presenter opens openedmic.com/app and starts a room.
  2. The QR code is displayed on the projector screen or printed on the session program.
  3. Audience members scan the code with their phone camera, and the supported browser opens the room.
  4. Listeners choose an available audio output and control playback volume on their device.

The listener opens one room entry page. There is no app installation or account-registration step. Actual connection time depends on the device and network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the audience need to install anything?
No. Audience members join by scanning a QR code or opening a link in a supported browser. No app download, account, or sign-up is required.
Can multiple speakers be heard simultaneously?
OpenedMic supports one broadcaster per room. For panels with multiple speakers, a shared microphone or mixer is used on the presenter side - the mix is then broadcast to the audience as a single stream.
How many audience members can listen?
Up to 200 listeners can join a single room simultaneously.
Can audience members in overflow rooms join?
Yes, if the listener's device has a stable internet connection. Network conditions and device playback still determine the actual experience in each space.
